Abstract

Physics learning is taught for the specific purpose of equipping students with knowledge and understanding of various natural phenomena. Facts in the field show that the level of mastery of physics concepts of students in our country is still low. Often students get experience of science in everyday life but do not realize that the experience is related to science. This study aims to see the level of understanding of physics concepts regarding direct current electrical matter, factors that affect the level of understanding of student concepts, factors that increase student motivation in learning and the influence of student environment in learning. The population of this study is class XII students of Sibolga Catholic Private High School. The sample of this study was class XII IPA of Sibolga Catholic Private High School as many as 20 people.  This type of research is quantitative using survey research procedures with the instrument used is a questionnaire. The results showed that student interest was strongly influenced by the way teachers taught, the use of media in explaining the material was very influential in the success of physics learning. The learning model chosen by the teacher also greatly affects students' interest in learning physics at school. The availability of facilities and infrastructure also greatly affects the interest and motivation of students in learning physics.
