Abstract

Alternating current in Physics learning at the Senior High School (SMA) level is one of the materials that requires in-depth understanding. This research aims to analyze the difficulties experienced by students in understanding the concept of physics in alternating current material in the environment of SMA Negeri 1 Siempat Nempu and SMA Methodist Sidikalang, involving 20 students, including 10 students from the two schools. This research method is qualitative research where the data is in the form of existing facts, so in this research a qualitative descriptive approach is used. This research uses a non-test instrument in the form of a questionnaire or questionnaire about students' learning interest. The results of the research show that (1) the conceptual understanding of students at Siempat Nempu High School with a percentage of 45% of students who understand the concept of alternating current physics is lower than the conceptual understanding of students at Sidikalang Methodist High School with a percentage of 55% of students who understand the concept of alternating current physics. come back. (2) The alternating current material that is most difficult for students in both schools to understand is the RLC circuit and the characteristics of the RLC circuit, (3) the main causal factor is that teachers when teaching in class only always lecture and do not use a variety of learning models and alternating current material. The lessons learned in class are very difficult to understand.
