Diagnosis Kesulitan Belajar Peserta Didik Pada Materi Getaran di Kelas XI IPA MAN 2 Model Padangsidempuan

Abstract

Physics is often considered a challenging subject for many students. In this research, a qualitative research design will be employed. The applied approach is a descriptive approach, which aims to provide an accurate description or depiction of the research object through data or samples studied as they are. This research is conducted to analyze the factors causing difficulties in learning physics, specifically on the topic of vibrations, at MAN 2 Model Padangsidimpuan. The research subjects consist of 20 students from grade XI IPA 4, and data were collected during the period from November 11 to November 19, 2023. To gather information, the researcher used several observation and interview instruments. A diagnostic test was administered to 9 students who did not pass and 11 students who passed. The 9 students who did not pass were classified as students experiencing difficulties in learning physics. The classical completeness showed that 55% of students passed the test, while 45% did not pass. In the interview test, the causes of difficulties in learning physics in this research were reviewed based on 3 factors: 1) Difficulty in calculations, 2) Difficulty in understanding concepts, 3) Difficulty in understanding formulas and their derivations. 50% of students had difficulty understanding concepts, 40% had difficulty understanding formulas and their derivations, and 10% had difficulty with calculations.
